The nature of the relationship between cress and Edwin is one of friendship. From Paragraph 52~65 Cress goes on in detail about what Edwin would like to do in life, and what his hobbies are. From that we can infer that Cress must pay close attention to Edwin, and or she is really attracted to Edwin. From her knowing so much about Edwin, they she must've spent a lot of time with Edwin to know so much, and in detail.

I chose him for our side." <---showing how she felt obligated to save him. Also, the parent suspect a crush going on, as they stated “About Cress’s being interested in the boys.”

Volunteer organizations emphasize the importance of getting young people involved in volunteer work because pg 10 paragraph 13 "When they're given the chance to do something selfless for others and they receive acknowledgement for it, that's an empowering mechanism that promotes self-esteem & leadership." also pg 11 paragraph 17 says "We believe if students can commit to a month, that becomes a year, then a year becomes a lifetime." pg 11 paragraph 18 "This really has become a 365-day-a-year project." I think what they mean is kids like to get recognized for things they do and if the get recognized they see they only did a little work then they'll do more as they get older and when they start off only doing a little as their young and when they get older do a lot.

  33. The nature of Cress and edwin relationship is a hidden crush. Cress was ready to work hard to help edwin regain the "dignity" he lost when she "humiliated" him. Althought people thought edwin as a little off Cress appreciated everything he did especially when he collected "flowers for the group". Cress was "protective" of edwin because she wanted to be seen more than just a friend.

Edwin is the outcast of the classroom. Cress seems to have a crush on him, they are very good friends because of all the information Cress knows about Edwin, such as his ambitions to become a missionary, collecting bird feathers, etc. In the end Cress says "you don't push people you don't feel sorry for" on page 8, paragraph 87

Volunteer organizations emphasize the importance of getting young people involved in volunteer work, because the more work they do helping the community, the more the values grow. "When they're given the chance to do something selfless for others and they receive acknowledgement for it, that's an empowering mechanism that promotes self-esteem & leadership." This quote showa how values increases. "We believe if students can commit to a month, that becomes a year, then a year becomes a lifetime." pg 11 paragraph 18 "This really has become a 365-day-a-year project." In this quote not only shows that the teenagers are helping the communitie, but also if they spent time helping, it is time where thay cannot be doing illegal stuff or gangs.
